Mountain Boys' Trip Across Country - Part 2

Random pictures from across the country......buffalo is North Dakota, statue at the North Dakota state capitol, a car museum owned privately but open to the public in eastern Montana, lots and lots of farmland and pastureland, and increasing mountains as the guys and my dog continued to travel further west.
Worried about possible truck mechanicals and possibly missing the ferry, the plan had been to only drive a couple of hundred miles a day and stop along the way.  Eager to get there, they ended up in Bellingham on the Monday, with the ferry not scheduled to leave out until Friday morning.
I found them a place to stay in a small town about 12 miles outside of Bellingham - population 89, and (as the very friendly front desk lady said when I called to reserve the room) "not as big as your thumbnail".
Jamie ended up winning hearts all over town with her friendly outgoing ways, and the guys had a chance to rest up close to rivers and country, before the ferry ride, and the last leg of the trip.
James sleeping on the front seat of the truck......
One thing that really struck LC while he was travelling were the people that he met.
We hear everyday about the unrest in this country, and about the values of a "progressive society" that do not seem to jibe with the values that maybe some of us grew up with.
My Mountain Boy came away from the trip across many states, after having met many people, feeling more secure in the continued goodness and decency of common, everyday people who work hard, provide for their families, and who continue to try to do what's right.
A sign the guys found in the window of a motel along the way:
Dogs are welcome in this motel
We never had a dog that smoked in bed and set fire to the blankets
We never had a dog that stole our towels and played the TV too loud or had a noisy fight with his traveling companion
We never had a dog that got drunk and broke up the furniture
So, if your dog can vouch for you, you are welcome here.
