Promise Of Impending Winter

Two weeks ago it was 85 degrees.
Three weeks ago it was 93 degrees.
Four days ago LC, Kory and I walked by the lake on a freezing cold morning, that was filled with fine snow and frozen mist.
The mountains were gone - lost in the whiteness that enveloped the sky and floated ominously above the water - but we knew that once the mist and deep cloud cover finally cleared, we would be surrounded by snow covered mountain ranges.
We spent a long time wandering in the silence of this empty place.
We love this kind of weather.
Beautiful.
Not beautiful in the blue sky, endless sunshine, lush grass and trees and flowers, kind of way.
Beautiful in that muted color, devoid of people, closed in way, that silently announces the promise of impending winter....................
In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.................Unknown
