The picture above was taken while standing with LC and Kory at the Bill Cody statue in back of town.
Cedar Mountain is on the left.
Rattlesnake Mountain is on the right, and the canyon in between leads out of town, out past Buffalo Bill Reservoir, out past Wapiti, out past the North Fork and all the way out to the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park.
Kory and I met LC there after wandering for a couple of hours.
During that brief time I had slowly become re-acquainted with this small town in north western Wyoming.
Cody felt familiar to me.
Familiar and strange at the same time...............
After standing by the statue for a while, talking together and enjoying the views, LC and I decided to take Kory back to the cottage so that we could explore parts of downtown..............
Many stores were already closed for the season, with small, hand written signs in the windows thanking everyone for a great season and "see you in 2018".
But many were still open and we contentedly wandered in and out of each.
Pottery.
Sculptures.
Art work.
Everything from postcards to place mats to T-shirts to hot sauce with Cody or Yellowstone or bear graphics.
Neither LC nor I were used to a lot of shopping anymore, and we both found the wandering through these places to be quiet fun.
We even bought a few early Christmas presents.
Some of the sights we came across in our brief excursion down Sheridan Avenue.
I will make a point of taking many more pictures downtown over the next few months......................
I had a modest home in Tennessee and sold it for a modest profit.
We had a modest home in Idaho and sold IT for a modest profit.
So how do we translate that into a home in Cody?
Truthfully...............we have no idea at this point.
At this point we're barely standing on the edge of the same financial ball field as typical home buyers in Cody.
Most of the time we're standing in the parking lot of the ball field...........
LC and I have looked at a number of homes over the past month in neighboring towns and neighboring counties.
One in particular was in our price range, was a very nice home, and by every standard met most of the "wants" on our list.
Which was pretty good for a couple of modest means.
And yet we didn't move forward with the home.
Because when push came to shove we realized that we wanted to live in or just outside of Cody.
LC doesn't want to "settle".
We've done plenty of settling over the past few years and he doesn't want to settle any more.
He wants what he wants and I'm right there with him.
Financially and credit wise we are in the best position we have been in for many years.
If we can't buy what we want by the time we have to vacate the cottage in the spring, we'll rent.
This is where we want to be.
So this is where we need to be..................
