Ranch In The Southfork - Part 3

We three humans and one dog sat on make-shift log benches by a fire-pit for a long time, talking and enjoying the sunshine and warmth before moving on and exploring further.
The mountains surrounded us in all directions and I stood looking over them for a few moments, imaging what they would look like when they were covered with snow.
LC cut wood with another of our neighbors earlier this week.
In Cody the day was sunny and still very warm, even this late into September.
LC and the other (much younger) guy left the house at 5:30 that morning and traveled high up into the mountains to cut wood, and while they were there they hit long periods of cold and heavy rain.
As it was raining and both of these guys were scrambling to find warmer and dryer clothes in their trucks, the young guy pointed high up into the mountains.
It was snowing heavily.........................
We walked and talked and sat and explored for about two hours in total, and then finally made our way back to the house for egg salad sandwiches and bottled water.
As I stood on the back porch of the house I watched as the resident cat stealthily walked across the narrow bridge that spanned the creek.
I'm not a cat person at all, but he was a lovely animal.
As I watched him lightly paw his way across, I glanced warily over at my sweet dog who was tied in the shade under a tree.
If she could get to it she would rip it apart.
Thankfully Jamie was sleeping in the grass and the unsuspecting cat walked across the lawn without having to be terrorized by my furry terror...................
One more scene of the beautiful creek behind the house..............
Seen in back of the house on the roof...................
Right next door to the caretakers home is an even larger log structure that I learned was a kitchen - large enough to feed a good number of ranch hands (if this was still a working ranch which it is not).
On the back porch of the kitchen building (which spanned the entire length of the log and chinking structure) I found rustic artwork in unexpected places.
Attached to the exterior wall near a door.................
A tile top table.................
A second painting attached to the exterior wall of the building, made from boards....................
A bird house hanging from the rafters of the porch and overlooking the mountains.....................
I really loved this little brick bird house....................
Wouldn't it be wonderful to look out of your front door and see this?.................
And this....................
A cold storage building that I think is no longer in use.....................
Views from the side of the house........................
And in back of the house again close to the creek.
Yes..............as LC and our neighbor sat on the porch and talked I continued to wander around the place simply taking quick shots of as many things as I could.
This place was extraordinary, and the knowledge that people even live like this is extraordinary.
The stuff of dreams for many people, but I was pleased to have had the opportunity to share in it for just a short time......................
